Client: ARCADIS (the Netherlands) executing the project in cooperation with BB&T (Sofia)

The project provided technical advice on water management in the Arda Basin. It was implemented in cooperation with the Municipality of Kardjali and supervised by the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works. The project aimed to contribute to the improvement of integrated water management and pollution prevention of the Arda River Basin by establishing a working partnership between stakeholders from Bulgaria and Greece and involve them in planning so future water management becomes more sustainable. Moreover, technical assistance in assessing the existing water quality of the Arda River and recommendations for improvement of the monitoring of water quality were provided. Related methodologies are based on European Water legislation.

Our responsibilities include:
Development of a Questionnaire, meetings and interviews with all stakeholders from the Bulgarian municipalities in the Arda basin
Stakeholders’ analysis and training needs assessment
Development of a Communication Plan and participation in its implementation
Development and presentation of a report on the results of the public awareness activities to final stakeholders summit of the project
